Volleyball Adds Addie Bryant to 2018 Roster

July 23, 2018

COLUMBIA S.C. – The South Carolina volleyball team announced the addition of junior college transfer Addie Bryant on Monday. The San Antonio, Texas native will have two years of eligibility with the Gamecocks after a standout career at San Jacinto College as a defensive specialist and libero.

In her two seasons with San Jacinto, the Ravens went a combined 52-16 and Bryant totaled 1,259 digs. She is the only player in program history to go over 600 digs in back-to-back seasons. Her 645 digs in 2016 ranked eighth nationally in the NJCAA and were the second-most in a season in San Jacinto’s 43-year history. This past season, she ranked seventh nationally with 614 digs while helping the Ravens finish 26-7 overall. In both seasons with the team, Bryant earned All-Region XIV honors and was named the region’s Libero of the Year.

Prior to her time at San Jacinto, Bryant attended Johnson High School and played club volleyball for San Antonio Magic. She helped Johnson win a district and area title during her prep career, and was a four-time junior Olympian with the Magic.

Bryant is the sixth addition to the team ahead of the 2018 season, joining Minnesota transfer Brittany McLean and freshmen Lauren Bowers (Simpsonville, S.C.), Kaely Ann Thompson (Greenville, S.C.), Amari Wilson (Allen, Texas) and Courtney Weber (Concord, N.C.). The Gamecocks return 12 letterwinners and five starters from 2017, and kick off the first season under coach Tom Mendoza on Aug. 24 with the Gamecock Invitational.
