Theme Days Announced for Home Football Games
The Gamecocks are offering great ticket deals for special groups.
Gamecock fans are counting down to September 1 for the start of the 2018 college football season as South Carolina opens the year with a three game homestand. In addition to its already loyal fan base, South Carolina has a number of themes and promotions for each home game which offer opportunities for different groups to take in a game with a great discount, including Seats for Soldiers, Firehouse Subs First Responders Day, Family Weekend, Varsity Spirit Day, Teacher Appreciation Day, Faith and Family Day, Scout Day, and Youth Sports Day.
“Attending a South Carolina football game with groups of your friends can create memories that last a lifetime,” said Athletics Director Ray Tanner. “Our marketing and group ticket sales staff have come up with great opportunities for fans to attend our home football games this season. These packages are meant to recognize special groups around our games.”
“We try to create as many different theme days as possible because we’d like to include people from lots of different areas who may not regularly have the opportunity to come to games,” said Dan Stahl, general manager of ticket sales.
Seats for Soldiers Day is set for the season opener against Coastal Carolina on September 1 and gives fans the opportunity to pay it forward by purchasing tickets for members of the military. This is not to be confused with military appreciation day later in the year where servicemen and women are honored at halftime.
“We already have approximately 700 tickets purchased so far by our fans for the military,” Stahl said. “Last year we sold approximately 600. Our goal this year to have over 1,000 tickets purchased for the military members and their families.”
It just makes sense to honor the teachers of our state who do so much for our youth.

Firehouse Subs First Responders Day is a new game day theme, and it means first responders, their families and their friends qualify to receive a discounted ticket and free Firehouse sub coupon with each ticket purchased for the September 15 contest against Marshall.
“We’ve had a similar day in the past that was more of an on-field appreciation, and with Firehouse Subs support this year, we wanted to offer all first responders a discounted ticket and some benefits in addition to the on-field recognition,” Stahl said.
The College of Education and South Carolina Athletics will honor all school teachers and staff for their hard work by offering a discounted ticket to the game against Texas A&M on October 13.
“This is our biggest theme day, and last year it sold over 3,000 tickets,” Stahl said. “We have a goal to surpass that in 2018. In partnering with the College of Education, it just makes sense to honor the teachers of our state who do so much for our youth.”
Gamecock Football Scout Day will recognize all Councils, Troops, Dens, and Scouts throughout the state and surrounding areas. All Scouts and their guests can purchase tickets for the game against Tennessee on October 27 for only $25! After the game, Scouts, their families, and friends are invited down to the sideline of the field at Williams-Brice Stadium for a photo opportunity. All Scouts in attendance also receive an exclusive, commemorative Gamecock Football patch to display on their uniforms.
