Gamecocks to Host Watch Party for NCAA Selection Show
Columbia, S.C. – No. 17 South Carolina women’s soccer (13-5-1) will hold an NCAA Selection Show watch party beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Mon., Nov. 5, at Wild Wing Cafe (729 Lady St, Columbia, SC 29201). The online selection show, which is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET, will be streamed inside the restaurant.
Fans are invited to attend the event (no free food provided). Fans do have access to the all you can eat wing bar for $10.99 per person (includes four wing flavors, two nugget flavors, house chips and soup of the day).
The first round of the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship begins on Friday, Nov. 9. The championship is comprised of 64 teams. Thirty-one conference champions qualify automatically; the remaining 33 of the field is selected at-large by the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Committee. There are 333 NCAA member institutions that sponsor Division I Women’s Soccer teams and are eligible to compete in the National Championship.
The Gamecocks are listed at No. 18 in the current NCAA Soccer RPI standings and are coming off finishing in four-way tie for fourth place in the SEC regular season standings. The Gamecocks were eliminated from the 2018 SEC Tournament on Friday by LSU and are eligible to be a part of the 33 at-large teams selected by the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Committee.
