Gamecock Freshmen Sweep Singles Titles at Georgia Tech Invite

Raphael Lambling and Jake Beasley each captured final round wins on Sunday to claim the two main draw singles titles (Olde Gold Draw and White Draw) at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

ATLANTA, Ga./ CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Raphael Lambling and Jake Beasley each finished off their tournament runs with final round wins on Sunday as South Carolina men’s tennis concluded play at the Georgia Tech Invitational.  Lambling defeated Andrew Li (Georgia Tech) in straight sets to claim the Olde Gold singles title while Beasley took down Andrei Duarte (Georgia State) in three sets in the White Draw singles final.

The Gamecocks also concluded play at the Charlotte 49ers Fall Invitational on Sunday as a pair of Gamecocks earned consolation wins on the final day of matches.
 
GEORGIA TECH INVITATIONAL- Atlanta, Ga.
Lambling dropped just one set on his way to the Olde Gold singles title which culminated in a 6-3, 6-4 win over Andrew Li of Georgia Tech in Sunday’s final.
 
After dropping the first set, Beasley won a second-set tiebreak to remain alive in the White Draw final.  The freshman from Athlanta, Ga., delivered a 6-0 third set to take out Georgia State’s Andrei Duarte, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-0.
 
Beasley and Joseph Brailovsky also closed out doubles play with an 8-5 win over Chris Yun and Andrew Li (Georgia Tech).  Brailovsky, Daniel Rodrigues and Yancy Dennis also each picked up wins in their final consolation singles matches of the tournament.

CHARLOTTE 49ers FALL INVITATIONAL- Charlotte, N.C.
South Carolina wrapped up play at the Charlotte 49ers Fall Invitational on Sunday as Thomas Brown and Patrick Cacciatore each rebounded from semifinal losses with consolation wins in the afternoon.  Cacciatore defeated Nico Grewe (UNCG) in straight sets while Brown beat Charlie Morkel (UNCA) 7-6 (8), 3-6, 6-1.

Up Next:
South Carolina men’s tennis will have two student-athletes, 27th-ranked Paul Jubb and Yancy Dennis, travel to Surprise, Ariz., to compete in the ITA Fall National Championships which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday.  The remainder of the Gamecocks roster will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., for the Wake Forest Invite from Nov. 9-11.
