Women's Soccer Announces 2019 Signing Class

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s soccer coach Shelley Smith unveiled her 2019 signing class Wednesday, announcing the addition of six student-athletes.

The newest Gamecocks boast impressive individual and team achievements at the club and high school levels.

“We are excited about this incoming class for next season,” South Carolina head coach Shelley Smith said. “We have a large core of returning players from the current team,  but this freshmen group will add some talented depth to our program.”

This year’s class features three student-athletes from South Carolina as well as players from North Carolina and Maryland.

“I expect, as in most years, that some of them will be challenging for playing time right away with the talent they do add to the mix,” Smith said. “We are also proud to be bringing in top players from the home state of South Carolina, and look forward to seeing them represent at the highest level of college soccer. The class is a well balanced mix of depth as it includes two forwards, two midfielders, a defender and a goalkeeper. They are another great group of young women that we are looking forward to having join our soccer family, and we know they will be tremendous representatives as student athletes of this university.”

The Gamecocks advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season and take on Penn State in the round of 32 in Morgantown, W.Va., on Fri., Nov. 16, at 3:00 p.m.
