Brayman, Scott Named NCEA Riders of the Month; Gamecocks End the Fall at No. 3
WACO, Texas – South Carolina senior Madison Brayman and junior Jordan Scott have each been named NCEA Rider of the Month in Equitation Over Fences and Reining, respectively, for the month of November as announced Monday afternoon.
Brayman went 3-0 during November, including two-consecutive MOP honors. On November 2 against UT Martin, Brayman outscored Brook Pfeiffer by 21 for a, 86-65, victory. Facing No. 10 Fresno State, Brayman earned another huge win, topping Cecily Hayes by 17, 83-66. Finishing out the month opposite of No. 4 Baylor, Brayman edged out Catherine Moorhead, 77-75. Overall, Brayman has a 4-2 record in fences with two MOPs.
“Madison set a goal for herself this month to improve her performance both on the flat and over fences and she has done just that,” head coach Boo Major said. “To get three over fences wins on the road, not to mention two MVP awards while doing it, is a huge accomplishment. Madison holds this team to a very high standard and expects nothing less as one of our captains. She holds herself to the highest of standards when it comes to competing. It is great to see her get rewarded for all the hard work she has put in.”
In Reining, Scott also went 3-0 in November, bringing her overall mark to 5-2 with one MOP. Starting the month against UT Martin, Scott downed Maddi Mukolaitis, 70-65.5. Opposite of Fresno State, Scott defeated Lexee Padrick, 75.5-0. Wrapping up against Baylor, Scott topped Georgia Smith, 71-70, winning her first MOP of the season.
“Jordan has continued to improve and gain confidence all fall semester,” Major said. “She had three phenomenal reining rides at away meets this past month that solidified her as a top contender amongst our reiners at South Carolina, in the SEC and in the NCEA. I am excited to see where Jordan and our reining team lead us next semester. It has been fun to watch her get out there and get things done. The title of Rider of the Month is well deserved.”
With the fall season completed, Carolina sits at No. 3 in the NCEA rankings. The end of the season also brings event rankings with 13 teams ranked in Hunter Seat disciplines and 12 in Western. In Equitation Over Fences, the Gamecocks rank at No. 2 and No. 4 in Equitation on the Flat. South Carolina is ranked No. 5 in Reining and No. 11 in Horsemanship.
The Gamecocks are back in action on February 2 when they host an exhibition meet at One Wood Farm in Blythewood.
