COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s soccer capped off its season with a No. 17 ranking in the final United Soccer Coaches Poll of 2018.
Carolina, which spent the entire season inside the top-20 of the poll, reached as high as No. 5 and sat in the top 10 three different weeks. This season marks the eighth time it concluded the fall ranked in the top-25 and the 37th consecutive week inside the top-25, the longest streak in program history.
The SEC boasted five schools in Tuesday’s final poll, with No. 7 Tennessee, No. 13 Texas A&M, No. 16 Vanderbilt and No. 18 LSU joining Carolina.
The Gamecocks, who finished 2018 with a mark of 14-6-1, reached the NCAA Tournament Second Round for the third year in a row. Carolina fell to eventual NCAA Quarterfinalists, Penn State, 2-0, in the NCAA Tournament Second Round on Nov. 16.
South Carolina finished the season with an 11-1-0 record at Stone Stadium and finished with the second most fans per match during the 2018 season. Carolina won three matches over ranked opponents and defeated five different 2018 NCAA Tournament teams.
The Gamecocks earned their sixth-straight NCAA Tournament bid, the longest streak in program history, and hosted the First Round for the sixth time in seven seasons, advancing out of those matches six times.
