Four Gamecocks Named to TopDrawerSoccer Top 100 Lists
COLUMBIA – S.C. – Four Gamecocks were featured on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Top 100 National Player Rankings, announced by the publication on Wednesday.
Grace Fisk and Mikayla Krzeczowski continued to rake in postseason honors, as the duo was featured on TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Top 100 National Player Rankings. Fisk finished ninth on the list while Krzeczowski checked in at No. 58.
Freshmen Selma Sol Magnusdottir and Jyllissa Harris both received nods to the Freshmen Top 100 list. Magnusdottir was placed at No. 42 while Harris came in at No. 54.
Fisk was featured on all three of the TopDrawerSoccer.com Top 100 National Player Rankings, starting the season at No. 10, moved up to No. 2 at the midseason mark and finished at No. 9 after another stellar season leading the back line. Fisk, who was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight time, was also named to the TopDrawerSoccer Best XI team and named an All-American in November. Fisk helped lead a South Carolina defense that posted the fourth-best goals against average in program history at 0.56. She scored the game-winning goal against Kentucky and added an assist later in the victory.
For Krzeczowski, the honor is her first from TopDrawerSoccer.com since she was named the National Player of the Week earlier this season. Her nine shutouts helped her eclipse both the South Carolina and SEC records for career shutouts at 34. The junior will enter her senior season with the best career goals against average in program history (0.50) and ranks fourth in career saves (165).
Magnusdottir was second on the team with 15 points this season despite missing three matches while playing with the Iceland national team during World Cup qualifying. Her seven assists put her in second place in the SEC this season and her 0.47 assists per match led the SEC. She scored a team-high three game-winning goals, which came against the College of Charleston (Aug. 18), Auburn (Sept. 28) and Florida (Oct. 8).
Harris was a solid addition in the Carolina midfield in 2018. She appeared in all 17 matches, started 15, and played every minute of 10 different matches this season. She was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 10 after she netted a goal and an assist against both Purdue and Wake Forest.
The Gamecocks earned their sixth-straight NCAA Tournament bid, the longest streak in program history, and hosted the First Round for the sixth time in seven seasons. Carolina has advanced out of those matches six times.
