Mark Anderson Wins Country Club de Bogotá Championship
Second professional win for former Gamecock All-American
BOGOTÁ, Columbia – Former Gamecock golfer Mark Anderson won the Country Club de Bogotá Championship on the Web.com Tour Sunday, marking his second professional win. Anderson shot 266 (-17) en route to the title, posting a 4-under 66 today en route to the four-shot victory.
“I’m just very happy right now. It couldn’t have been a better week and I’ve always loved coming here,” Anderson said. “The golf course is one of my favorites out here and to get off to a great start in the year really helps.”
The Beaufort, S.C., native held a two-shot lead going into Sunday’s final round. Anderson was lights out in the first round with an 8-under 62 on Thursday. His previous Web.com win came at the 2013 BMW Charity Pro-Am.
“Belief kept me going, 2013 was my last win and I knew I could improve.” said Anderson. “I’ve been on the PGA TOUR, but I’ve never stayed out there and that’s the drive. I’ve really worked hard the last couple of years on being more consistent and just trying to get better, that’s all my motivation.”
Anderson now has 15 career top-10s in 138 career starts on the Web.com Tour. He’s had three runner-up finishes. Anderson has also earned 65 starts on the PGA TOUR with two top-10s.
A 2008 South Carolina graduate, Anderson was a four-year starter for the Gamecocks, earning PING/GCAA All-American honors twice (2005, 2008). He was a two-time First Team All-SEC selection (2005, 2008) and was named the 2005 SEC Freshman of the Year.
