Go Named on 2019 ANNIKA Award Watch List

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior women’s golfer Lois Kaye Go has been named to the latest ANNIKA Award Watch List, Golfweek announced Friday. Go is one of 20 student-athletes currently in contention for the national honor, which recognizes the top female U.S. collegiate golfer.

The ANNIKA Award Watch List will be updated two more times this spring. The second Watch List (mid-April) will reduce the list to 15 individuals, and the final Watch List (mid-May) will reduce the list to the top-10 individuals. The winner, which will be determined by players, coaches and members of the golf media, will be revealed in June.

This year’s recipient of the accolade will be given an exemption into September’s Evian Championship, the LPGA Tour’s fifth and final major of 2018.

Go has continually moved up the individual rankings since the fall. She ranks 15th in the country and has posted an average score of 71.88 in her last three tournaments, in all of which she finished in the top five. In her most recent tournament, she capped off a third-place finish by sinking four straight birdies to end her final round.

Go has also been busy on the international stage. She claimed the 2019 Philippine Amateur Open title back in January and helped the Philippines win gold at the 2018 Asian Games back in August.

No. 10 South Carolina has begun the 2019 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C. at Long Cove Club. The Gamecocks wrap up the 54-hole event on Sunday.
