Gamecocks Sweep Morehead State

The team is now 11-6 heading into its bye weekend

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Gamecock beach volleyball capped a seven-match streak over the last seven days with an emphatic win on Tuesday night, sweeping Morehead State (4-1). South Carolina now stands at 11-6 overall for the season, winners of eight of its last nine duals.

The fourth and fifth pairs worked through their opening wave with relative ease, giving up just 24 total points to Morehead State between the two matches. Lauryn Gillis and Quinn Fulton led off with a 21-3, 21-9 win at the fives, and Jess Vastine and Hannah Edelman followed shortly thereafter with a 21-4, 21-8 win.

Carly Schnieder and Franky Harrison provided the clinching point with a 21-6, 21-16 win at court three, and with sweeps at number one and two the Gamecocks would win the dual without dropping a single set.

The team will have just over a week to rest before its next event. It will be another one-off dual on the schedule, the Gamecocks welcome in Coastal Carolina on Wednesday, March 27 for a 6 p.m. dual.
