OPELIKA, Ala. – No. 9 South Carolina women’s golf concluded the 2019 Evans Derby Experience in a tie for eighth, carding a 72-hole score of 893 (+29) as a team at Saugahatchee Country Club.

“Great rounds by Anita [Uwadia] and [Lois Kaye Go] today,” South Carolina head coach Kalen Anderson said. “I’m glad we had the opportunity to play this golf course as it is a potential NCAA regional site for us in May. It will be a major advantage for us to be selected to this region. We gained a multitude of invaluable course knowledge.”

No. 11 Florida State came from behind to finish in first, using a final-round 285 (-3) to top the standings at 870 (+6). No. 3 Duke, No. 2 Texas and No. 8 Arkansas all finished as the runner-up with a team score of 874 (+10) with No. 7 Florida (880, +16) rounding out the top five.

Anita Uwadia made one of the biggest jumps in the final round of anyone at Saugahatchee Country Club. The junior finished with four birdies in the third round, including three in a four-hole stretch on the back nine. After a 34 (-2) back nine, she finished up with a 1-under 71 to move into a tie for 42nd.

The final two members of the Gamecocks’ starting five each recorded a 78 to finish their time at the Evans Derby Experience. Marion Veysseyre and junior Ana Pelaez each had one birdie during their final round.
