Lyman Named to Ariat All-America Honorable Mention Team
WACO, Texas – South Carolina freshman Grady Lyman has earned a spot on the 2019 Ariat All-America Honorable Mention Equitation on the Flat Team as announced by the NCEA on Wednesday evening.
The recognition comes after Lyman went 5-1 with one MOP during the regular season. She also tallied a victory and MOP against Liberty in an exhibition meet.
Lyman competed in her first meet for the Gamecocks on Nov. 10, against No. 4 Baylor. In the meet, Lyman edged by Rachel Davis, 72-71, taking her first win and earning the first MOP of her collegiate career.
Getting experience in a team setting, Lyman rode against Liberty in an exhibition meet, topping Hanna Gossard by 14, 78-64, collecting another MOP honor.
Lyman rattled off three more victories for five-straight with the exhibition victory, including a win over No. 6 TCU’s Jacey Albaugh, 80-72, No. 1 Auburn’s Caitlin Boyle, 84-76, and No. 2 Texas A&M’s Caroline Boyle, 83-69.
Her only loss of the season came to No. 7 Georgia’s Grace Bridges in a tight ride, 83-82. Lyman then closed out the regular season with a victory over Erin Gordon of Delaware State, 85-82.
