Fans Invited to Take Part in Carolina Forever Project

by Brad Muller, Director of Content

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but for a lot less than that, your picture can be at Williams-Brice Stadium while also helping South Carolina student-athletes in the classroom. The Carolina Forever project gives all fans a chance to become part of a large mosaic planned for outside Williams-Brice Stadium.

“If you donate $100 for a textbook for the student-athletes, you get to submit a picture that goes into the mosaic,” said Gamecock Club Executive Director Patrick McFarland. “For every $100 donation, you can submit another picture.

“We wanted to give our fans the chance to get behind a project where they feel a sense of attachment to our program. Here, they’re providing something directly to our student-athletes. It’s a win-win for the student-athlete and the donor.  Cost of attendance is going up and books are part of that equation. This project is a way to combat that and for those that participate, they’ll be able to take pride in seeing their picture displayed at Williams-Brice Stadium.”

The mosaic will be placed on the east side of the stadium prior to the start of the 2020 season and will be approximately 10 x 15 feet. Once the campaign is completed, donors will be notified about where their photo is located.

There will also be a stand-alone web site so donors can view the mosaic anytime they wish.

“You can type in your name and find out exactly where your photo is,” McFarland said. “You can add a caption to it and share it on social media.”

You don’t have to be a member of the Gamecock Club to take part in the Carolina Forever project. The Gamecock Club has been funding scholarships for student-athletes since 1941, and this is another way that more people can get involved to show their support.

As another way to participate, Gamecock Club members can enroll in ACH (automated bank draft). ACH also allows you to set up recurring payments for future transactions, including regularly scheduled debits from your checking account to pay yearly dues at no additional cost. Benefits of ACH authorization include discounted handling fees and the elimination of late charges.  Those donors participating in ACH will qualify to submit their photo as part of the campaign, as well.
