Uwadia to Take Part in U.S. Women's Amateur Qualifying

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Rising senior Anita Uwadia has officially entered the qualifying process for the 119th U.S. Women’s Amateur. Uwadia will compete in sectional qualifying at Bermuda Run Country Club in Bermuda Run, N.C., on July 2.

Sectional qualifying will take place at 24 sites between July 1 and July 17, with the field being trimmed to 156 competitors for the 2019 U.S. Women’s Amateur held in West Point, Miss., at the Old Waverly Country Club from Aug. 5 to Aug. 11. Entries include any female amateur whose USGA Handicap Index does not exceed 5.4.

The top five participants from the Bermuda Run Country Club section qualifier will advance to the 119th U.S. Women’s Amateur, along with two alternates. Each sectional qualifier has a different amount of qualifiers taken, depending on size.

Uwadia competed in all 10 tournaments for the Gamecocks in 2018-19. The Newcastle, United Kingdom, native was the Gamecocks’ strongest competitor in match play, finishing an undefeated 6-0-0, including a 3-0-0 record at the 2019 SEC Championships. She completed her junior season on a high note, carding a 3-under 69 to tie her career-best 18-hole score at the 2019 NCAA Cle Elum Regional.

The sectional qualifier at Bermuda Run Country Club will begin at 8:00 a.m., with Uwadia starting at 9:20 a.m. ET from the first hole.
