South Carolina Ready for Tavistock Collegiate Invitational

WINDERMERE, Fla. — South Carolina is back in action at the 2019 Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Sunday. The Gamecocks will face a loaded field at Isleworth Golf & Country Club over three days of competition.
 
“This tournament has been a premier event in college golf for many years now and this year is no exception,” said head coach Bill McDonald. “The quality of the field and a demanding Isleworth course is everything you want as a player and coach. We looked a little rusty and sloppy coming off the fall break period earlier in the week, but the guys have sharpened up some as the week progressed. I’m expecting them to be rested and ready to compete at a high level.”
 
The first edition of the Golfstat Team Rankings for the 2019-20 season were released on Wednesday and five top-25 teams are in the field, including an additional five ranked in the top-50. No. 2 Texas Tech and No. 10 Arizona State headline that group. Carolina checked in at No. 31 in the first set of rankings.
 
It remains the same lineup for the Gamecocks with the order shuffled slightly. Senior Jamie Wilson mans the first position. Sophomore Ryan Hall, fresh off his first collegiate win at the 2019 J.T. Poston Invitational, is the two man. Senior Caleb Proveaux is in the middle with freshman Jack Wall and junior Jack Parrott rounding out Carolina’s five.
 
Proveaux is coming off two runner-up finishes in his last two outings. He leads the team with a 71.00 scoring average and six rounds of par or better in nine rounds played.
 
Carolina will look to build off momentum from its trip to The Country Club of Sapphire Valley when the team shot the lowest 18-hole round (264, -20) and lowest 54-hole score (806, -46) in program history en route to a comeback, runner-up finish at the J.T. Poston Invitational.
 
Parrott leads things off for the Gamecocks at 9:40 a.m. ET on Sunday morning. Carolina will be paired with Minnesota and UNLV in the opening round.
