Milazzo to Miss Remainder of Season with Injury

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Senior defender Tatumn Milazzo of the South Carolina women’s soccer team will miss the remainder of the 2019 season with a knee injury, head coach Shelley Smith announced today. Milazzo suffered the injury on Oct. 24, against Ole Miss.

Milazzo was named captain prior to the start of the 2019 season, one of three for the Gamecocks. Milazzo has played all over the field for the Gamecocks in her career, including her primary position as a right back, but also has seen time as a center back and a left back at South Carolina. Milazzo was an All-SEC performer in 2017 and was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region team in 2018 before being named to the 2019 SEC Watch List. She has scored three goals in her career at South Carolina and was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season. She was a starter for the Gamecocks on their way to the 2017 College Cup and has played in 80 career matches and started in 56.

The Gamecocks will end the regular season on the road against Auburn on Oct. 31. The match can be seen on SEC Network + as well as whip around coverage on the SEC Network. The Gamecocks then will head to Orange Beach, Ala., for the 2019 SEC Tournament.
