Rodrigues Advances in Fall National Championships
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.— The South Carolina men’s tennis team began its quest for a title at the 2019 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships today in Newport Beach, Calif. No. 35 ranked sophomore Daniel Rodrigues picked up a win today, downing No. 52 Duarte Vale of Florida in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1.
Rodrigues jumped out to a 6-4 win in the first set before Vale battled back to force a third set. In the final frame, Rodrigues took control, closing out the SEC foe 6-1.
In the morning match, No. 110 Raphael Lambling opened strong against No. 14 Matias Soto of Baylor, but saw his top-15 foe rally back to win in three sets 0-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Rodrigues will continue his run at the national title tomorrow in the round of 32 when he takes on No. 32 Gui Osorio of San Diego while Lambling will play in the consolation draw.
