ABOUT TONIGHT’S GAME

  • Tonight’s game is just the second between the Gamecocks and Spartans all-time. South Carolina won the series opener 71-57 on Dec. 16, 2008, Dawn Staley’s first season at the Gamecocks’ helm.
  • The Gamecocks are 140-71 all-time against teams from the state of South Carolina, playing 16 other programs based in their home state. The longest running foe is Palmetto Series rival Clemson, which is next on the Gamecocks’ schedule. 


PARKING INFORMATION

  • Various street closings to accommodate Vista Lights will affect fans parking in/around Colonial Life Arena. Side streets from Lincoln to Park will close at 5 p.m. Gervais Street from Assembly to Gadsden will close at 6 p.m., and all streets will remain closed until 10 p.m.
  • Parking is available for $10 per vehicle in the Discovery Garage and the City Garage (located near Pendleton, Park and Lincoln Streets). (See parking map here)
  • FREE parking is available in the Pendleton Street Garage (corner of Pickens and Pendleton). The shuttle from that location, which departs and returns to Pickens Street, begins two hours before tipoff and runs until one hour after the game ends. (See campus and shuttle map here)


GAMECOCK NOTABLES

  • Mikiah Herbert Harrigan checked all the boxes on the stat sheet against Appalachian State with 21 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including a 3-pointer, six rebounds, four blocks, two assists and three steals. The scoring surged moved her up to second on the team and 21st in the SEC with 13.0 points per game.
  • Freshman Zia Cooke found her outside shooting stroke last week, hitting 7-of-9 from 3-point range over two games. Her 27 points at Dayton (Nov. 13) was the most on the team this season.
  • Sophomore Destanni Henderson settled into her offense against Appalachian State, shooting 6-of-8 from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers, for 16 points while also handing out three assists and swiping three steals. Her leadership at the point guard position helped her to plus-minus of 48.77 in the game, the highest off the bench and fourth-best on the team.
  • Freshman forward Aliyah Boston is the lone Gamecock to have scored in double figures every game this season. Last week, she shot 11-of-12 from the field, including 6-of-6 from the field on Sunday – one of five all-time perfect shooting games by a freshman in Gamecock history.
  • Sophomore Victaria Saxton scored in double figures in both games last week, averaging 11.5 points on 69.2 percent shooting. Defensively, she blocked seven shots over the two games, which moved her into the SEC top 10 in blocks per game this season (9th, 2.0).
  • Freshman Brea Beal got her offense on track against Appalachian State, shooting 3-of-6 from the field to score in double figures for the first time this season. The Gamecocks’ leading rebounder on the season narrowly missed her first career double-double with nine boards.
  • Senior Tyasha Harris was locked in on distribution duties last week, handing out 11 assists over the two games against just two turnovers. Her 4.8 assists per game this season rank third in the SEC.
