Eagleton Named to the SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – South Carolina senior Kate Eagleton was named to the SEC Equestrian Community Service Team as announced Thursday evening.
 
Eagleton has shown her love for animals through her community service. She has worked with Pawmetto Lifeline by fostering dogs on a regular basis, bringing dogs home and caring for them. She spent her time during the summer of 2018, fostering dogs and accumulated over 40 hours and 146 total for the year. In addition to fostering the dogs, she also spends time at the shelter during the fall and spring semesters with daily operations, grooming and general care of the animals, and any other way she can be of service.
 
In addition to volunteering at an animal shelter, she also uses her professional skills to help others. Eagleton also spends her time with the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. Nonprofit organizations in the Columbia area are always looking for cost efficient ways to market themselves. Kate volunteered at a 24-hour event hosted by the journalism school where she created advertisements, marketing plans and other materials for these organizations.
 
Eagleton, along with the equestrian team, spends her time giving back by working with Curing Kids Cancer. The team brings children and families to the barn and teaches them about horses and their sport, decorate horse shoes, and plays games with them. Eagleton and her teammates enjoy having an ongoing relationship with Curing Kids Cancer so much so that they have several visits to the barn and will be raising money towards cancer research and participate in their annual Fire Truck Pull.
 
Over Eagleton’s time at the University of South Carolina, she has accumulated a total of 447 hours of community service.
