Thomson Named SEC Freshman of the Week

COLUMBIA, S.C.— After starting the season undefeated, South Carolina freshman Connor Thomson was recognized as the first SEC Freshman of the Week of the season.
 
Thomson has gotten off to a fast start in his first season in the Garnet and Black. The Glasgow, Scotland native is 5-0 in singles, including crucial wins against No. 22 Oklahoma and No. 19 Georgia at the ITA Kickoff weekend. Thomson has held his opponents to three or fewer games in all but one set. The freshman has also started the season 5-0 in doubles, including a win over the No. 17 ranked duo from Georgia this past weekend.
 
The Gamecocks will return to action Sunday as they face No. 2 North Carolina at 6 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
