EdVenture Book Drive Saturday At Colonial Life Arena

COLUMBIA, S.C. – This season marks the 12th year of the Read With The Gamecocks program, a partnership with South Carolina Athletics and the EdVenture Children’s Museum in Columbia.  At this Saturday’s home men’s basketball game versus Missouri (3:30 p.m. ET/SEC Network), EdVenture will host a book drive outside of the Colonial Life Arena entrance prior to tipoff.

Read With the Gamecocks is an incentive-based reading program to promote the importance of literacy in elementary and middle school aged students.  EdVenture and Gamecock Athletics encourage all fans attending Saturday’s game to bring a new or gently used book to donate to the EdVenture Book Bank, which aims to get age appropriate books into the hands of children who need them.  Since 2012, the EdVenture Book Bank has collected and distributed over 10,000 books to children in underserved areas throughout the Midlands.

The book drop-off location will be located at the fountain outside of the front entrance of Colonial Life Arena on Saturday.  Those that cannot attend the game Saturday but still would like to donate books can drop them off anytime at EdVenture Children’s Museum during normal operating hours, or fans can visit the Museum’s website for additional information.
