Farley Wickre Named NCEA Standout Athlete of the Month

Waco, Texas – South Carolina equestrian senior Farley Wickre is January’s recipient of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Standout Athlete of the Month award, NCEA officials announced on Monday.

“Farley has been invaluable to us with her recommendations for improvement and her astute attention to detail,” head coach Boo Major said. “She’s used her knowledge of visual communications to help us as she’s done some breathtaking photography work in addition to the rest of what she does for the team.”

The Kitty Hawk, N.C. native has overseen and led the community service activities for the team over the last two years while also acting as a liaison between the team and the communications staff to help both sides work together to the fullest extent of their abilities. Wickre has earned multiple academic honors during her time in Columbia, including being named to the APHA Academic Honor Roll in 2019. She’s earned SEC Academic Honor Roll distinction the last three years.

“Farley has been a great help to me as our community service coordinator over the last two years,” Major continued. “She keeps track of all our hours and coordinates to let everyone know about volunteer opportunities in the community. Farley is quick to laugh things off but is responsible enough to let us know when we need to change something. Her talents will take her far when she graduates.”

Wickre is set to graduate in May with a degree in visual communications.
