Senior Spotlight: Jordan Scott
When people think of the ultimate teammate, the woman they can count on through thick and thin, Jordan Scott comes to mind. An integral part of the Gamecock equestrian team over the last four years, Scott’s example is one all Gamecocks strive to follow.
“Jordan is the soul of our team,” head coach Boo Major said when asked of her senior reining rider. “She always strives to make everyone better and has been instrumental in keeping the lines of communication open between the team and us coaches as one of our captains. She has had a lot of bad breaks in the competition arena this year that doesn’t do her riding ability justice, but she hasn’t let that bring her down.”
Scott had a stellar freshman campaign as she worked her way into the starting lineup on her way to SEC All-Freshman Team honors. By the time the Gamecocks made it to the SEC Championship and NCEA Championships Scott was firmly entrenched as a starter where she went 2-0 at her first NCEA Championships.
As she continued to grow into her role on the team she racked up the reining wins, so much so that she’s tied for eighth in the all-time record book with 25 wins. Prior to the start of her senior year Scott was selected as a team captain, a role she earned through her hard work and dedication.
In the classroom Scott excelled as well as she earned SEC Academic Honor Roll honors all three years she’s been eligible, and both NCEA All-Academic First Team and NCEA Academic Honor Roll distinction the two year’s she’s been eligible.
Scott is set to graduate in May and looks to continue her education as she pursues a graduate degree.
