Senior Spotlight: Maddy Parker
Tough breaks and bad luck seemed to follow Maddy Parker through her time in Columbia, but the senior never let it bring her down.
“Maddy seems to have had many bad breaks, literally, throughout her equestrian team career.,” head coach Boo Major said. “Maddy is the senior example of being humble. She has dealt with an injury what seems like every year which has interrupted her progress to compete. She is a beautiful rider and one that, should she continue to ride after college, will have a lot of success. She has been a real team player and leads not by being loud and bossy but by being practical and by doing it instead of just talking about.”
While Parker’s action in the competition arena has been limited, she’s been a leader in the classroom by earning SEC Academic Honor Roll distinction all three years she’s been eligible.
The Waxhaw, N.C. native rode three times as a freshman and posted a career best 68 in a ride against New Mexico State. She tied that high in a demo ride against Oklahoma State as a sophomore. She won her second ride against Lynchburg as a junior, 67-42.
Parker is a chemistry major set to graduate in May.
