Gamecocks Tied for Second with Nine to Play in Guadalajara
Guadalajara, Mexico – The Gamecocks made their move in the second round and are within striking distance of first with nine holes to play at the IJGA Collegiate Invitational. Carolina shot a 7-under 281 in the second round and a 2-over in the first nine holes of the final round at the Guadalajara Country Club on Monday.
“Overall our round two was really solid,” head coach Kalen Anderson said. “LK led us with 5-under which was awesome. We put ourselves right back in position and then had to start the third round and we came out a little bit sluggish which was not great. We made a few mental mistakes, just came out slow and LSU played exceptionally well. Pauline played really well on the front nine with 4-under. We just have to get out there tomorrow and forget about it. Come out real sharp tomorrow and stay positive. This group is playing really well, they can do it.”
Freshman Pauline Roussin-Bouchard locked in for the second round with a 3-under 69 and shot a 4-under on the front nine in the third round. She sits alone in third place.
After a rough opening round senior Lois Kaye Go had a phenomenal second round with a 5-under 67, her best round in two years and one stroke off the best round of her Carolina career. Go is tied for 19th heading into the final nine holes.
Senior Ana Pelaez shot a 1-over for the second round and sits in a tie for 26th place with a 2-over for the tournament.
Bouncing back after some bad breaks on Sunday senior Anita Uwadia shot an even par 72 in the second round and has a 4-over for the tournament as a whole.
Freshman Mathilde Claisse entered the third round looking to wipe the slate clean and has an even par 36 through the front nine.
