Senior Spotlight: Farley Wickre
Every great team needs someone the doesn’t pop up on the score sheet but acts as the glue that holds everything together. For the Gamecocks, that’s Farley Wickre
“She’s the organized one,” head coach Boo Major said. “Farley has been a great team player her entire four years here. She took over our team community service hours keeper and has helped integrate her system with all the other sports. Farley has a great talent of recognizing good equestrian content through the lens of a camera. Her aspirations to be a graphic designer for equestrian advertising is already coming to fruition. I have no doubt she’ll be successful in her future job due to the dedication she has shown to this team.”
Wickre took over as the community service coordinator for the Gamecocks last summer, helping plan, execute and keep tabs on all the community service activities for the team. The winner of the NCEA Standout Athlete of the Month for January 2020, Wickre has used her eye for detail to help the coaches in breaking down game film, and even served as a photographer for the team while traveling. In the competition arena Wickre notched victories over Ohio State riders in her freshman and sophomore years. Academically Wickre shines as well with three SEC Academic Honor Roll distinctions and a spot on the 2019 NCEA Academic Honor Roll to her name.
A visual communications major, Wickre is set to graduate in May.
