Bolden Named CoSIDA Academic All-District
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina R-junior guard Jair Bolden was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 First Team, it was announced on Thursday by the organization (College Sports Information Directors of America). The All-District Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Bolden, who holds a strong GPA as a retail management major at Carolina, has seen action in 25 of the Gamecocks’ 26 games this season with 15 starts at the guard position. He is averaging 8.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 21.7 minutes per game. He has 14 double-figure scoring games this season, and leads the Gamecocks with a mark of 41.1 percent (39-95) from 3-point range. Bolden led the Gamecocks with a season high 22 points in the road win at No. 9 Virginia in late December, and he has scored in double figures in five SEC matchups.
To be nominated for Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may NOT be rounded up to 3.30. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable). First-Team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
