Gamecocks Finish Ninth at General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — South Carolina wrapped up play at the 2020 General Hackler Championship on Tuesday. The Gamecocks posted a final round score of 300 (+12) to finish the tournament ninth with a 54-hole tally of 880 (+16).
 
Senior Jamie Wilson and sophomore Ryan Hall paced Carolina with even par rounds of 72. Wilson, who shot par or better all three rounds while leading the Gamecocks with a T-6^th finish, held the individual lead by a shot at 8-under with seven holes to play today. He bogeyed three of his final four holes thought to finish the tournament with a 54-hole total of 211 (-5).
 
Wilson’s top-10 finish is his third of the season (seventh career), which matches a career high. He’s finished in the top-20 now in five of his seven starts during the 2019-20 season. The Mount Pleasant, S.C., native, leads the team with 13 rounds of par or better.
 
Senior Caleb Proveaux, junior Andrew Spiegler and sophomore Harry Corbin struggled each shooting 78 (+6). Junior Jack Parrott, who played as an individual this week, shot 77 (+5) in round three. He and Proveaux were each T-19^th at even par heading into today.
 
The Gamecocks will be off the remainder of Spring Break and return to play at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational (March 16-17). It will be a stacked field at Floridian National Golf Club with all 14 teams in the field ranked in the top-50 of the latest Golfstat Team Rankings.
