Men's Basketball Earns NABC Team Academic Excellence Award

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced on Thursday it’s Team Academic Excellence Awards for the 2019-20 campaign.  The Gamecock men’s basketball team earned the honor, which recognizes outstanding academic achievement by teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the season. 

In order to earn an NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s basketball student-athletes who competed during the 2019-20 season.

The Team Academic Excellence Awards were released one day after the NABC released its Honors Court for 2019-20, which included Gamecock graduates Jair Bolden and Maik Kotsar.  Following the season, Gamecock men’s basketball student-athletes have earned several academic achievements, including the SEC Winter and First-Year Academic Honor Rolls, the above mentioned NABC honors, and Kotsar also was named Carolina’s Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in May.
