Gamecocks Collect ITA Academic Honors

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Seven members of the South Carolina men’s tennis team earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status and the Gamecocks were named an ITA All-Academic Team, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced today.

Every Gamecock eligible for individual honors collected the award as senior Paul Jubb could not qualify due to not being enrolled in the Fall 2019 semester. Junior Thomas Brown earned his third selection in as many seasons, and sophomores Jake Beasley, Raphael Lambling, Beau Pelletier, and Danield Rodrigues each made the list for the second time. Redshirt-Freshman Phillip Jordan and freshman Connor Thomson each captured the honor for the first time in their careers.

At least one Gamecock has earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status in each of the last nine sasons with this season’s seven selections ranking as the most in program history. This season marks head coach Josh Goffi’s ninth ITA All-Academic Team in his 10 seasons at the helm.

The 186 NCAA Division I teams that earned ITA All-Academic Team honors posted a team grade point average of at least 3.2, while each of the 979 selections for ITA Scholar-Athlete status posted at least a 3.5 grade point average.
