Roussin-Bouchard and Panthong Make Preseason ANNIKA Award Watchlist

Columbia, S.C.  –  South Carolina senior Pimnipa Panthong and sophomore Pauline Roussin-Bouchard earned some preseason recognition on Thursday as both appeared on the Preseason ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel Watch List.

“It’s certainly exciting to have two players on the Preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List, as both are very deserving candidates,” head coach Kalen Anderson said. “Pauline has established herself as one of the world’s most dominant players, and Pim does not possess a weakness in her game. I am excited for Pim to compete and test herself with our schedule, one of the toughest in the nation. Pauline and Pim are in a great environment as teammates where they are able to push one another daily to be their very best.”

Panthong joins the Gamecocks after four years at Kent State where she racked up three All-America honors and two Mid-American Conference Player of the Year awards. She owns multiple Kent State program records including the best career scoring average (71.65) and seven tournament wins. Panthong also appeared on the final ANNIKA Award Watch List last season.

Roussin-Bouchard’s 2019-20 campaign went down as the best freshman season in Carolina history. She earned numerous honors, including First Team All-America distinction from both the WGCA and Golfweek, a spot on the final ANNIKA Award Watch List, and invitations to play in both the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup and the 2021 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Her 71.27 scoring average is the lowest for a freshman in program history, and the second lowest season average for any Gamecock golfer in team history. Roussin-Bouchard also broke freshman records with her 54-hole score of 205 and her 18-hole score of 65 at the 2019 Windy City Collegiate Classic.
