No. 3 Gamecocks Open Season Against No. 1 Auburn

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 3 University of South Carolina equestrian team opens its season against No.1 Auburn at 10 a.m. on Friday at OneWood Farm.

Spectator Information

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic fans will NOT be allowed at OneWood Farm during the meets this fall. Limited access for family members on the team’s guest list will be allowed, but anyone not already on the list will NOT be permitted into the facility. 

What You Need To Know

  • Carolina enters the season looking to maintain the momentum it found at the end of the 2019-20 season, going 4-1 in the second half of the year.
  • The Gamecocks return four NCEA All-America honorees from last year, led by first team honorees senior McKenzie Duncan in reining and sophomore Madeline Schaefer in over fences. Sophomore Jordan Allen earned second team honors in over fences, while senior Louisa Brackett earned honorable mention in over fences as well.
  • The Garnet and Black start the season at No. 3 in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association rankings, the same spot it held at the end of last season.
  • Carolina is set to compete in three meets this fall, all against SEC competition. After opening the season against Auburn the Gamecocks head to Bryan-College Station to clash with Texas A&M on Nov. 5 before wrapping up the fall slate against Georgia on Nov. 13 at OneWood Farm.

Auburn enters the season at No. 1 in the NCEA rankings and riding a 34-meet winning streak dating back to the 2017-18 postseason.
