Men's Soccer Adds Match With Belmont Abbey College
Gamecocks to face Crusaders this Saturday at Stone Stadium
COLUMBIA, S.C. —- South Carolina men’s soccer will play host to Belmont Abbey College on Saturday with a 7:00 PM kick from Stone Stadium. The match will be streamed through gamecocksonline.com.
Fans who purchased tickets for the originally scheduled match against UAB can still get into the match with those passes.
Although the Crusaders are an NCAA Division II program, the match will count toward win-loss records and stats will count toward season and career marks, as well. This will be South Carolina’s first match against a non-Division I foe since it faced a D-II opponent in 1998 when it opened the year with an 8-0 win over Coker College.
The Gamecocks were originally scheduled to face UAB, but the match was canceled due to positive COVID-19 tests among the UAB program and the widespread quarantines for those in their direct contact. Carolina will not look to reschedule the Blazers this fall.
Carolina comes into the match with a 2-2 record this fall with a win over Georgia Southern and a momentum-building victory at Mercer. Sophomore Brian Banahan leads the Gamecocks in points (3), shots (12) and shots on goal (6). Redshirt-junior Justin Bauer and senior Nick Brady have earned the two wins between the posts.
The University of South Carolina Athletics Department announced ticketing information for the fall soccer season with a majority of tickets being allocated to student-athlete and coach family members and a limited number of students.
Following the previously announced seating capacity plans, the Department of Commerce approved a reduced capacity plan to allow approximately 675 fans at Eugene E. Stone Stadium III this fall.
The majority of tickets will be provided to family members on the player-pass list for both teams. A limited number of tickets will be available on a game-by-game basis. However, due to the anticipated demand for these tickets exceeding the remaining number of seats, only fans who had purchased season tickets for the upcoming season will have the ability to purchase single-game tickets.
Concessions stands at Stone Stadium will not be open for the 2020 season. Fans will be permitted to bring in one sealed bottle of water.
Game day parking is available for fans in the Heyward Street Garage located at 1300 Heyward Street. Parking is free of charge in this location and is available on all levels on a first-come, first-served basis. Handicap parking is also located at designated spaces within the Heyward Street Garage. An elevator is located within the garage for fans who will need to access the elevator to get to the ground level.
