Gamecocks Conclude Fall at Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate

Wilson, Hall, Proveaux, Shinn and Wall the five for Carolina in deep all-SEC field

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. — South Carolina concludes the fall portion of its schedule beginning Sunday at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. The tournament, hosted by Alabama, will feature all 14 SEC teams just like the previous two events for the Gamecocks this fall.

Super senior Jamie Wilson mans the top spot in the lineup this week. Wilson, a PING All-American in 2019-20, has yet to find his form in two appearances in the lineup this season. He is however coming off an impressive showing at The Azalea Invitational in which he earned runner-up medalist honors after posting a 72-hole score of 277 (-7).

Junior Ryan Hall and super senior Caleb Proveaux remain in the lineup for Carolina. Hall, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., native, leads the team in every statistical category and is fresh off a T-3rd finish at The Azalea Invitational. He’s finished in the top-20 of each of the team’s first two tournaments. Proveaux T-6th in the Gamecocks’ season-opener at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 5-7).

True freshman Liam Shinn will be making his collegiate debut in Garnet and Black this week. Shinn, who hails from Norcross, Ga., is fresh off a win at the Golfweek Carolina Country Club Amateur on Tuesday in Spartanburg. Sophomore Jack Wall is backing in the lineup after missing out at the Legends Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 25-27).

“We’re looking forward to playing our final fall event this week,” said head coach Bill McDonald. “I’m particularly excited for Liam to make his debut for us and getting two of our freshmen in the lineup this fall is great experience that will certainly pay off going forward. Both Jamie and Ryan played well at The Azalea last week and we continue to have some quality team practices. We should be in good form and we’ll have to be patient at Old Overton as it’s known for being tricky in spots and quite long.”

Carolina will be paired with LSU and Florida for Sunday’s shotgun start at 1:20 p.m. ET. The Gamecocks will be going off holes nine, 10 and 11.
