Each season, South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley selects a theme for her team. Given all the challenging events of 2020, she chose “What Matters” as the them for 2020-21.

Each Gamecock student-athlete wrote her own personal statement about “What Matters” most to her, and those statements were blended together for the script of the theme reveal video above. The full text of each of their statements is shown below.
