Schmelzel and Roussin-Bouchard in Contention at U.S. Women’s Open
HOUSTON, Texas – South Carolina alumnae Sarah Schmelzel moved into a top-10 position, while sophomore Pauline Roussin-Bouchard made the cut and sits in the top-20 heading into the final two rounds at the U.S. Women’s Open at the Champions Golf Club.
Schmelzel shined on Friday, shooting a 2-under 69 with a pair of birdies on six and 11 to jump into a tie for sixth place after a strong day on the Jack Rabbit course.
Roussin-Bouchard started strong on the Jack Rabbit course but lost her flow as the day wound on, finishing with a 1-over 72 though she birdied six holes. After two rounds she sits in a tie for 20th.

Schmelzel and Roussin-Bouchard move back to the Cypress Creek course for the final two rounds of the tournament. Roussin-Bouchard gets her round started at 11:18 a.m. ET, while Schmelzel tees off at 12:13 p.m. ET. Saturday’s broadcast gets started on the Golf Channel from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., then moves over to Peacock from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. before finishing up on NBC from 2:30-6 p.m.
