No. 4 Gamecocks Head to No. 5 Georgia on Saturday

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 4 University of South Carolina equestrian team hits the road for the first time in 2021 when it travels to Bishop, Ga. to face the No. 5 University of Georgia Bulldogs at the UGA Equestrian Complex on Saturday.

Boo’s Bits

“We’re looking forward to getting on the road again, it has been way to long since our last trip. We are looking forward to a great meet against a strong Georgia team. The Jumping Seat squad will be prepared after coming off a solid win against Lynchburg and our Garnet and Black western scrimmage was also great practice meet coming into this weekend. It really helped give us more solid ideas of where we need to improve and where we are firing on all cylinders.”

What You Need to Know

  • The Gamecocks aim to get the full squad back on track after last weekend’s jumping seat competition against Lynchburg saw the team post a 9-1 win.
  • Junior Trinity Hammerschmidt won both of her points against Lynchburg, giving her a combined six wins this season with a perfect 4-0-0 record in over fences and a 2-2-0 record in action on the flat.
  • Sophomore Jordan Allen made her season debut against Lynchburg, notching an 88-point ride on her way to M.O.P. honors.
  • Junior Caroline Bald took her first M.O.P. of the year, and first flat M.O.P. of her career, with her 85-point ride against Lynchburg. Bald won an over fences M.O.P. at Texas A&M last season.
  • On the western front junior Sloane Vogt is coming off a successful fall that saw her earn the NCEA Reining Rider of the Month for November and the SEC Reining Rider of the Fall awards. Vogt went 2-1-0 in the fall with a win and M.O.P. honor at Texas A&M, and a win in the home meet against Georgia to close the fall.
  • The Gamecocks defeated Georgia in their fall clash, 11-8, back in November.
