No. 2 Gamecocks and Go in Second at Gamecock Intercollegiate
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – Senior Lois Kaye Go and the South Carolina women’s golf team are in second place at the Gamecock Intercollegiate after play was suspended in the middle of the third round at the Carolina Country Club on Tuesday.
The teams began round three after the conclusion of round two Tuesday afternoon in an effort to work around impending weather on Wednesday morning, with play wrapping up at sundown.
Go led the way for the Gamecocks for the second straight day, sinking six birdies, including three in a row on holes 11-13, to shoot another 3-under 69 and finish round two tied for the lead before ending the day in second place at 5-under, three strokes off the lead.
Senior Ana Pelaez righted the ship after a rough opening round to shoot a 1-under 71 in the second round, and she currently tied for 17th place at 2-over entering Wednesday.
Freshman Paula Kirner and senior Pimnipa Panthong are tied for 24th place at 3-over, while sophomore Pauline Roussin-Bouchard is tied for 28th at 4-over.
The Gamecocks finished round two atop the leaderboard, but stumbled in the opening of round three and sit six strokes behind Duke ahead of Wednesday’s resumption of round three, set for 11:30 a.m.
