Trinity Hammerschmidt Named Co-SEC Rider of the Month

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Trinity Hammerschmidt has been outstanding this season for the South Carolina equestrian team, and now she has the award to prove it as she’s been named the SEC Co-Flat Rider of the Month for February, SEC officials announced on Friday. 

Hammerschmidt had a perfect February on the flat, notching wins at No. 5 Georgia and against No. 4 Texas A&M. In the meet at Georgia she not only won her matchup, but took her first M.O.P. award of the season in her win. 

“I am so proud of Trinity for achieving this honor,” head coach Boo Major said. “She has worked hard to improve her flat riding and it is finally paying off for her.”

The junior is riding a four-meet winning streak on the flat and has four over fences wins as well to lead the team with eight victories overall this season. 

Carolina is set to face Auburn on March 13 on the plains ahead of the SEC Championship in Bishop, Ga. on March 26-27.
