Gamecocks Earn Road Win At FIU

MIAMI, Fla. —- South Carolina men’s soccer earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory on the road at FIU on Saturday afternoon. The Gamecocks scored three first-half goals to earn their first C-USA road match win since 2018.

Mark Roby’s first career goal at the 13-minute mark started a flurry of scoring as Brian Banahan’s finish at the 18th minute gave the Gamecocks a 2-1 lead before Peter Clement’s penalty-kick goal extended the lead to 3-1 at the 41-minute mark.

FIU added an additional goal with less than a minute before halftime but it wasn’t enough as the Gamecocks took home their second road win of the season and their first in the spring portion. The first half was the third-consecutive half of soccer in which the Gamecocks scored three goals.

It’s the first time since 2016 the Gamecocks finished with three or more goals in back-to-back matches and the first time since 2014 they reached the mark in back-to-back conference matches.
