Equestrian Holds Annual Awards Ceremony
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina equestrian team held its annual awards ceremony earlier this week to honor the 2020-21 squad.
Among the honorees are the event Most Valuable Players, with junior Sloane Vogt taking the honors for reining, senior Taylor Kellam earning distinction for horsemanship, junior Trinity Hammerschmidt bringing home the award for her flat work and sophomore Madeline Schaefer snagging the honors for her over fences performance.
Senior Addie Cromer earned this year’s spirit award, while freshman Emma Lane was named Most Outstanding Freshman. In addition to her reining MVP award, Vogt was named Most Dedicated on the team. A pair of juniors claimed the Most Improved awards with Alexa Thorpe earning the western honors and Alice Kass taking home the jumping seat award.
For the grooming awards Madeline Schaefer and freshman Mauro Reppas earning distinction for their work with Murphy on the jumping seat side, while senior Nikita Cope and sophomore Cora Wyers earned the western award for their work with Paddy.
Rounding out the individual awards is this year’s Coaches Award recipient, junior Christina Mueller, and the Academic Award honoree, senior Kate Bonham. This year’s letter winners are listed below.
