Pelaez Named to International Team for Arnold Palmer Cup
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s golf senior Ana Pelaez has been named to Team International for the 2021 Arnold Palmer Cup, tournament officials announced Tuesday.
Pelaez joins fellow Gamecock Pauline Roussin-Bouchard on Team International for the 2021 edition of the Arnold Palmer Cup, set to be hosted by Rich Harvest Farms on June 11-13, 2021.
After remaining in Spain during the fall due to travel issues the senior has shined in every appearance this season, finishing no worse than 10th in any stroke play event, and notching three top-5 finishes in her five tournaments. Pelaez tied for third in her season debut at the Moon Golf Invitational, finishing with an 8-under (208) before rattling off back-to-back runner up finishes at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, shooting a career-best 10-under (206), and at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. Her opening round 8-under (64) at the SEC Championship broke the record for lowest round in tournament history.
“Ana is a tremendous choice for the Arnold Palmer Cup team,” head coach Kalen Anderson said of her senior. “The internationals gain a strong match play competitor and an energetic personality with her. Ana’s selection is a well-deserved honor that she has been working towards. I am excited for her and proud of her.”
The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla., in 1997. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men’s and women’s university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players.
