Goffi Announces Fall 2021 Schedule
Gamecocks prepare for fall competition
COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis head coach Josh Goffi announced his team’s Fall 2021 schedule on Friday, which includes the South Carolina Invitational at its home courts in Columbia, S.C.
“We’ve got a good group of guys returning who are eager to continue the work they put in last year,” said Goffi. “Our fall schedule has a great mix of team and individual events, allowing them to play against some of the best players in the country.”
The Gamecocks will spend much of the fall on the road, beginning at the Gator Fall Invite in Gainesville, Fla., Sept. 10-12. The team will then head to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American Championships Oct. 4-10 and split to send a squad to the Bulldog Scramble in Athens, Ga., Oct. 8-10. South Carolina will then travel to Durham, N.C., to compete in the ITA Carolina Regional Oct. 22-26.
The Gamecocks will play their only home matches of the fall at the South Carolina Invitational Oct. 28-31 at the Carolina Tennis Center before selected student-athletes head back on the road to close out the fall season at the ITA Fall Championships Nov. 4-7 in San Diego, Calif.
The Gamecocks finished last season ranked No. 13 in the country, the program’s best final ranking since coming in at No. 5 at the end of the 1988-89 campaign. South Carolina advanced to the NCAA Championships Round of 16 for the first time since the 2005 event and ended the season with a record of 17-10 (.629).
