- The Gamecocks moved up four spots in this week’s United Soccer Coaches Poll.
- South Carolina picked up a 1-0 win in their home opener against Boston College Thursday night.
- Payton Patrick scored her first collegiate goal in the 75th minute.
- Corinna Zullo assisted on Patrick’s goal. She has now recorded a point in three straight matches.
- Heather Hinz earned her first shutout of the season, finishing with three saves.
- The Gamecocks continued their trend of using a deep bench as 20 players earned minutes in the BC match.
- In four matches this season, South Carolina has used 24, 22, 21, and 20 players, respectively.
- South Carolina was picked by the league’s coaches to finish third in the 2021 SEC regular season. The Gamecocks have not finished a season lower than third in the SEC since 2015.
- Five Gamecocks were named to the SEC Soccer Preseason Watch List – Catherine Barry, Lauren Chang, Samantha Chang, Ryan Gareis, and Jyllissa Harris.
- Head coach Shelley Smith returns 21 of last season’s 26 letterwinners, including the team’s top three goal scorers and four fifth-year seniors who chose to return for their bonus year of eligibility.
