Gamecocks Lead by Six Heading Into Final Round at ANNIKA

LAKE ELMO, Minn. — South Carolina remains in the lead six shots over Wake Forest at the 2021 ANNIKA Intercollegiate after 36 holes. Scoring conditions were tough on Tuesday, but the Gamecocks battled and shot 288 (E) to remain at 10-under as a team.
 
All four counting scores were over par at the turn but combined to shoot 6-under coming into the clubhouse. Junior Mathilde Claisse posted a 2-under 70 to move into the top-15 individually. She made the turn at 1-over but rallied with birdies on three of her four final holes of the round.
 
Junior transfer Justine Fournand shot even par (72) to remain inside the top-15 at 1-under overall alongside Claisse. True freshmen Hannah Darling and Louise Rydqvist each shot 73 (+1) to round out the day’s counting scores. Tai Anudit shot 78 (+6) but remains in a decent spot on the leaderboard (T-20^th) heading into Wednesday’s final round.
 
Darling jumped out to a 1-shot lead after 18 holes on Monday with a bogey free 66 (-6). She struggled early today and was 5-over through seven holes. She rallied however though and was bogey free the rest of the way with four birdies. She’s T-2^nd at 5-under for the tournament, five shots behind Ole Miss’ Julia Johnson who shot another 67 (-5) today.
 
The Gamecocks will be paired with the Demon Deacons and Duke again for Wednesday’s final round. Rydqvist will lead things off at 9:50 (ET) on hole one. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
