South Carolina Ranked No. 1 in Latest WGCA Poll
Gamecocks fresh off a season-opening win against 11 top-25 teams
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. — South Carolina jumped 10 spots to No. 1 in the latest Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) top-25 poll the organization announced on Friday. It’s the second poll of the 2021 fall season.
The Gamecocks received five first-place votes. Duke (2), Oklahoma State (3), Wake Forest (4) and Stanford (5) round out the top-five.
Carolina is fresh off a season-opening win at the 2021 ANNIKA Intercollegiate (Sept. 13-15). The Gamecocks were dominant, winning by seven shots in a field that featured 11 teams ranked in the current top-25.
The next poll will be released on Friday, Oct. 15.
