Gamecocks Set to Compete in Isleworth Collegiate

17th year of the event formerly known as the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational

WINDERMERE, Fla. — South Carolina is back on the course at the Isleworth Collegiate on Sunday. The 54-hole, stroke play event will conclude with the final round on Tuesday. It’s the second competition in the last week for the Gamecocks as the team concluded play at SEC Match Play on Wednesday at Shoal Creek.

“The Isleworth Collegiate always has a great field and the golf course can be very challenging, especially around the green complexes.” said head coach Bill McDonald. “We’re playing two freshmen this week, and I’m expecting them to gain some great experience.”

This marks the 17^th year of the event formerly known as the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational. Central Florida and West Virginia serve as the co-hosts for the tournament. Past participants in the event have gone on to tally over 100 professional wins professionally. For more information on the event, click here.

Seven of the 14 teams in the field this year are ranked in the top-50 of the initial Golfstat Team Rankings, which were released on Oct. 13.

Senior All-American Ryan Hall remains the top-player in the lineup this week. He’s joined by senior transfer Evans Lewis, junior Jack Wall and highly-touted freshman Gene Zeigler again. Those four have started all three events so far this season, helping Carolina to a win in the season-opening J.T. Poston Invitational back in late September.

Another true freshman, Nathan Franks, will make his lineup debut this week. Franks played as an individual at the J.T. Poston Invitational, finishing T-40^th at 4-over. He fired an impressive 69 (-2) in the opening round of the event, his first in Garnet and Black.
