Gamecocks Finish T-5th, Wall T-3rd at Isleworth Collegiate

Junior from Brielle, N.J. notched his first career top-five finish at South Carolina

WINDERMERE, Fla. — South Carolina shot a final round 291 (+3) to finish T-5^th with Florida at the 2021 Isleworth Collegiate on Tuesday. Junior Jack Wall T-3^rd to lead the team this week, posting his first ever top-five in Garnet and Black.

The Brielle, N.J., native shot 211 (-5) with rounds of 68, 69 and 74. Wall T-12^th in the team’s first event of the season, as Carolina won the J.T. Poston Invitational back on Sept. 28. He now has five career top-20 finishes in 16 starts. Wall led the field in par-5 scoring average this week by nearly a half-shot margin (4.08, -11).

Senior All-American Ryan Hall T-13^th at 1-over for the tournament. He paced the Gamecocks with a final round 71 (-1). The Knoxville, Tenn., native also has a pair of top-20 finishes this season like Wall in the team’s two stroke play events. Hall has 19 top-20s now in his 27 career starts.

“I thought the team played well this week, and they gave us a chance to win the tournament going into the final nine holes today,” said head coach Bill McDonald. “It was great seeing Jack play so well, and we’re a pretty good team when he’s dialed in like that. Our freshmen gained some valuable experience this week, and I think we all have a better idea of what we have to work on to be elite.”

Senior transfer Evans Lewis and freshman Gene Zeigler were the final counting scores in round three, each shooting 73 (+1). Freshman Nathan Franks, who made his lineup debut this week, shot 75 (+3) closing with a birdie on the par-4 18^th hole.

The Gamecocks wrap-up the fall portion of the schedule Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Daniel Island invitational. The event, hosted by Charleston Southern, will take place at Daniel Island Club’s Ralston Course.
