Volleyball's Kyla Manning Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

The graduate student is the fourth member of the program to ever make the team twice in a career

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina volleyball’s Kyla Manning made the 2021 Academic All-District® Team Thursday afternoon, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The graduate student is now a two-time honoree, also making the team during the 2020-21 season.

In just two seasons with the Gamecocks, Manning has shown to be as prolific as a student as she is as an athlete. Joining the team for the fall 2020 season, she has over 500 kills and 350 digs in 47 games played, including a team-high 306 kills so far this season. Manning is pursuing her masters degree in Biomedical Sciences and currently carries a postgraduate grade point average of 3.77.

She is the fourth Gamecock in program history to make the all-district team two or more times; the last to do it was Sarah Cline (2007, 2008 and 2009 honoree). Manning is now in the running to make CoSIDA’s Academic All-America team, something only three other Gamecocks have accomplished: Lori Rowe (1986) Katie Gerst (1994) and Cline (2009).

Fresh off a 10-day break, South Carolina returns to action Nov. 20-21 when it travels to No. 20 Florida for a two-game series. First serve for Saturday’s match is 4 p.m. and it will air on the SEC Network+, Sunday’s game will be at 2 p.m. on the SEC Network.
